Snow removal contract template: define the job before the first storm

A snow removal contract needs to explain what happens when it snows, which areas you service and how the customer pays. Use this planning outline to gather those details before preparing a seasonal agreement. It suits residential driveways and small commercial sites; adapt the scope to the property.

What to put in a snow removal contract

Start with the customer and service address, then describe the work in terms a crew can follow. “Snow removal” alone does not tell someone whether the front steps, back entrance or sidewalk are included.

  • People and property: contractor contact, customer contact, service address and access instructions.
  • Service area: plowing, shoveling and salting areas, with excluded areas stated separately.
  • Service trigger: agreed snow depth, how conditions are assessed and any response window you can actually support.
  • Snow placement: approved storage areas and whether hauling away snow is extra.
  • Price: per-visit or seasonal basis, included services, applicable taxes and charges for extra work.
  • Season and payment: start and end dates, invoice schedule, payment terms and how changes are agreed.

Customer contact: [name and phone]

Example: prevent a scope mismatch

For an illustrative driveway job, “driveway plowing only; front steps and public sidewalk excluded” is clearer than “clear property.” If the customer wants steps shoveled, add that as a separate service and price it before accepting the work. Mark where the crew should place snow rather than leaving the location to guesswork.

Turn the outline into a quote and agreement

Enter the property, work and rates in the quote builder. Review the quote alongside the agreement preview so the service scope and prices agree. A seasonal total and a per-visit price answer different questions; explain which basis applies to this customer.

This outline is a preparation aid, not a complete legal agreement. Have the final terms reviewed for your business and location before signing. Avoid promising a response time your crew cannot reliably meet.
